This beautiful and peaceful birthplace of Lord Buddha was made a World Heritage Site status by UNESCO in 1997.



Lumbini was situated in east of Kapilvastu and southwest Devdaha which according to Buddhist tradition is where Lord Buddha was born.


 This beautiful and peaceful birthplace of Lord Buddha is surrounded by a large monastic zone in which no any shops, hotels or restaurants but only monasteries can be built. 




This monastic zone is further divided into the eastern monastic zone and western monastic zone.
